Strategic PR Plans
Strategic Public Relations Plan for FA Detailing
Problem/opportunity: FA Detailing, a local automotive detailing business, sought to expand brand awareness, attract new customers, and establish a stronger digital presence in the highly competitive Bloomington-Normal area. The business had limited public relations structure in place and was missing opportunities to build community engagement and media visibility.
Special circumstances: This project was completed for a senior-level PR Strategy and Planning course. It was a group assignment that required in-depth research into FA Detailing’s current market positioning, competitor analysis, and the development of a strategic communication plan that addressed both short- and long-term goals.
Target public(s):
Primary: Mike DeFalco and Nate Chalmers, the owners of FA Detailing.
Secondary: Car owners aged 20–45 in the Bloomington-Normal area, particularly those who value premium services and vehicle maintenance.
Objectives:
-Develop a strategic PR plan for FA Detailing that includes at least five actionable tactics to increase visibility. (Benchmark: FA Detailing’s current monthly client base and social media engagement rates.)
-Increase brand recognition by securing media features in local outlets and launching a referral incentive program by the end of the plan period. (Benchmark: Current lack of earned media and incentive offerings.)
Evaluation:
-The full strategic PR plan was successfully completed and submitted by the project deadline.
-The plan included detailed research, key messaging, digital strategy, and community engagement tactics tailored to FA Detailing’s goals.
