Verobisty Magazine

Problem/opportunity: There was an opportunity to create a compelling, student-produced magazine that explored culture, creativity, and communication through a modern, visually engaging format. The goal was to conceptualize and produce a full magazine prototype that could resonate with Gen Z readers while showcasing editorial, design, and production skills.

Special circumstances: This project was completed for the Magazine Design and Production course. It was an individual assignment that required the development of an original magazine concept, full branding elements (name, logo, style guide), editorial lineup, feature stories, visuals, and a professionally formatted final layout using Adobe InDesign.

Target public(s):

Primary: Young adults ages 18–25 with interests in media, arts, pop culture, and identity-driven storytelling.

Secondary: Media professionals and faculty evaluating student portfolios and design work.

Objective:

-Design and produce a fully developed magazine prototype by the end of the semester that meets professional visual and editorial standards. (Benchmark: Past student work and industry examples studied in class.)

-Create at least three original feature stories and visually support them with layout, imagery, and typographic consistency throughout. (Benchmark: Best practices in magazine design.)

-Communicate a clear brand identity that reflects the values of expression, creativity, and communication. (Benchmark: Brand cohesion across cover, table of contents, and interior spreads.)

Evaluation:

-The project was completed and submitted on time.

-The magazine was praised for its bold visual style, cohesive branding, and editorial voice.

-The assignment met all rubric expectations, and the final layout was selected for peer showcase in the class portfolio gallery.
